Forms, donations, and newsletters

Updated October 25, 2026

Most small sites have a contact form, and many have a donate button or a newsletter signup. Here is what happens to each when we rebuild your site.

Contact forms

On WordPress, forms usually come from a plugin such as WPForms, Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, Ninja Forms, or Formidable. Those plugins do not move over.

We replace them with a Guardhouse form. It looks like your old one, with the same fields. Messages go to the same email address you use today.

Good to know:

  • Spam protection is built in, so you do not need to solve puzzles or install anything.
  • We test the form before your preview goes out. When you review the preview, send yourself a test message too.
  • To change who receives the messages, or to add a field, text or email us.

Donations

If your donate button is an embed from Givebutter, Donorbox, Zeffy, or a PayPal button, it keeps working. We carry it over as it is. Your donors and your payouts are not affected.

If your donations come from a WordPress plugin, such as GiveWP or Charitable, we cannot move the plugin. We swap it for an embed from Givebutter, Donorbox, or Zeffy. We help you choose one and set it up. Your past donation records stay with the plugin and your payment processor. We can tell you how to export them before you switch.

Newsletters and signups

Embedded signup forms from Mailchimp and similar services carry over. So do Google Forms for volunteer signups and similar needs.

Newsletter plugins that live inside WordPress, such as MailPoet, need a closer look. We will tell you what to do with your subscriber list. Usually that means exporting it to a service like Mailchimp.

Other embeds

Calendars and booking tools (Calendly, Acuity, Square Appointments), maps, and videos keep working when they are pasted in as embeds.

What if I am not sure which I have?

Run the free site check. It lists the forms, donation tools, and newsletter tools it found. Or email hello@useguardhouse.com.
