Pointing your Network Solutions domain

Updated October 25, 2026

This guide is for domains registered at Network Solutions. Read Pointing your domain first if you want the big picture.

Network Solutions has its own instructions too: How to manage DNS and advanced DNS records.

We will send you the exact values to use. The usual target is sites.guardhouse.host.

Part 1: Add the www record

  1. Log in to your Network Solutions account.
  2. Select Domains on the left.
  3. Choose your domain and click Manage.
  4. Open the DNS tab.
  5. Click +Add Record. (To change an existing www record instead, find it, click its vertical ellipsis, and choose Edit.)
  6. In the pop-up, open the Refers to drop-down and choose www. (Network Solutions lists @, www, and Other Host.)
  7. In Alias to, enter sites.guardhouse.host.
  8. Leave the TTL at its default (Network Solutions says 7200 seconds, or 2 hours), unless we tell you otherwise.
  9. Click Add.

Part 2: The plain address

Network Solutions says a CNAME can only be created on a subdomain such as www, not the plain address. Doing it on the plain address can conflict with other records and disrupt email or your website.

For redirecting the plain address, Network Solutions’ page points to its Web Forwarding product. We could not find a help page that explains how to set it up, so we are not giving steps here.

Email us and we will tell you what to do for your domain.

Extra verification records

If we ask for them, add them on the same DNS tab, choosing the TXT record type.
