Owning your site

Updated October 25, 2026

Your website is yours. We host it and look after it. We do not hold it hostage.

What you own

  • Your content. Your words, photos, logo, and pages belong to you.
  • Your site files. The files that make up your new site are yours too.
  • Your domain. It is registered in your name, at the company you chose. We only change a few settings there. We never take control of it.

If you want to leave

You can leave at any time. Email hello@useguardhouse.com and tell us. Here is what we hand over:

  1. Your site files, as a download, ready to put on another host.
  2. Your content, including text and images.
  3. Help with your domain. We tell you what to change so it points somewhere else. See Pointing your domain. You would undo the records we asked you to add.

Things to know

  • Forms. The Guardhouse contact forms work through our service. If you move your site, you will need a new form service. We tell you how.
  • Plan and billing. Your yearly plan covers hosting. If you leave in the middle of a year, ask us about the details.
  • Email. We do not host your email, so leaving does not affect it.

Questions

Email hello@useguardhouse.com. We would rather answer a question than lose a customer, but we will never make leaving hard.
